Welcome to the Outback Chapel

Building Community Together

We are now an online ministry only. The physical chapel building has new owners and is no longer operating as Boulia Outback Chapel. Please join us on YouTube for our ongoing Words of Encouragement and ministry updates.

What we believe

The Bible is the inspired Word of God and is our guidebook for living.

Christians are followers of Jesus (Mark 8:34)

Christians are folks who have:

  • realised their wayward condition before God (Romans 3:23)
  • placed their personal faith in the finished work of Jesus on the Cross (Ephesians 2:8-9)
  • accepted the free gift of Jesus and the salvation & forgiveness he offers (Ephesians 2:8-9)
  • Christians are “new” creations having repented of their former lifestyle and chosen to follow Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17)

We believe every Christian is free to access God (Hebrews 4:16) and can worship, praise, pray for others, and make their own requests known.

Christians are not perfect but God is working in their lives (Ephesians 2:10)

Every Christian has God’s Holy Spirit living in them (Acts 2:38)

Christians are called to be Christ’s “hands and feet”

Christians remember and celebrate the death of Jesus and his resurrection in Communion (the Lord’s Supper or the Eucharist) (1 Cor 11:25-26)

Christians live in the daily hope that Jesus will return for his followers (John 14:1-3)

Christians come from all walks of life and denominations.

Christians follow the example of their Lord in Believer’s Baptism. (Declaring publicly the inward change of lifestyle) (Acts 22:16)

Two school chaplains purchased the old Anglican Church in Boulia in July 2018.

Following renovations, the building was reopened as Boulia Outback Chapel holding weekly services from 2019 through until November 2025.

Chappy Peter and Chappy Christine have been in prior pastoral ministry in Cooktown where Peter was the pastor of Cooktown Baptist Church.

The Outback Chapel operated under the Qld Baptist Family of Churches and welcomed folks from all backgrounds to visit and be encouraged in the Christian faith.

Their mission continues online via their “Words of Encouragement” on the Boulia Outback Chapel youtube channel
